What are the tips and traps for small business owners when it comes to your business structure and accounting requirements? Melissa Harvery, of TaxCentric, guides us through the different types of business entity vehicles and business restructures, employee obligations and the ATO requirements.
Melissa will be bringing a wealth of expertise in accounting and business structures. At the 2024 conference she educates us about:
- Is my business in the right structure?
- What is a business structure?
- What are my obligations as an employer?
- What are the consequences of getting it wrong.
Melissa is a highly qualified and experienced accountant with a strong academic background that includes:
- Graduated from University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Commerce, double majors in accounting and finance.
- Completed Diploma of Chartered Accounting in 2013 and became a member of the Institutute of Chartered Accountants.
- 11 years expenrience working for mid tier firms in Brisbane.
- Exposure to large corporations.
- Additional study undertaken in relation to Self Managed Superannuation Funds.
On a more personal note, Melissa was “locally grown”, born at Beaudesert hospital, a student of Jimboomba Primary and Beaudesert High School. She now has two children and another one due any day now.
Melissa started TaxCentric in 2021 with Lauren Dansie as they could see there was a big gap in the market for advisers to support medium sized business. Especially those, businesses that are too small for the CBD firms and yet too complex for a local firm.
